Studio Record

Material discipline on Belgian linen

Elena Vane maintains an archival painting practice grounded in historic oil preparations, earth oxides, and unprimed textiles, documented under neutral studio illumination.

Studio Practice

Raw minerals and temporal cycles

Every body of work originates with dry raw pigments sourced from regional quarries and hand-ground in cold-pressed walnut oil. Surfaces are built over unbleached flax woven in Flanders, prepared with traditional rabbit-skin sizing that preserves the natural cadence of the fiber.

Drying intervals follow seasonal studio humidity, requiring up to eight weeks between glaze passages. This deliberate pace ensures chemical stability and archival longevity across decades, rejecting synthetic driers in favor of optical depth and structural integrity.
