About the Artist

Pavil "Pav" Wilkinson

Pav founded Wilkinson Design + Construction in California, where he designed and built homes and commercial projects for more than three decades. The work taught him structure, proportion and patience: every line has a reason, and every line is drawn before anything is built.

Painting turned that habit inside out. Pav pours and drips paint across the canvas in long, continuous movements, layering loop over loop until the surface is dense with motion. Circles recur throughout the work, and in some pieces the builder still shows through: straight vertical lines hold the gestures in place like the framing of a wall.

His palettes move between cool slate and sky blues, deep greens lit with yellow, and bold primaries. Each painting is one of a kind.

Studio Practice

Raw minerals and temporal cycles

Color
From quiet slate blues to full-strength primaries, built up in layers.

Structure
An architect’s eye for order: verticals, rhythm, and balance across the whole canvas.

Gesture
Paint poured and dripped in continuous motion, so the movement of the arm stays visible.
